Suits Review: Brooklyn Housing (Season 7 Episode 5)

Suits Season 7 Episode 5
Mike juggles his work obligations with his promise to help a family; Harvey asks for Louis’s discretion in a sensitive manner; Donna vets a possible addition to the firm.

On Suits Season 7 Episode 5, Mike tries to juggle his work at the firm with a secretive case that he is working on. Meanwhile, Harvey enlists Louis’s help with a personal matter.

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

Mike finds his promise to Oliver butting heads with his duties at Pearson-Spectre-Litt. The prison case heats up this episode as Oliver and Mike find more leads. One of the leads brings him face to face with Gallows again. Gallows was in prison with Mike and nearly had him killed. But, Gallows won’t speak up without getting something in return. While the case is interesting, I keep fearing what will happen when Harvey finds out. He isn’t going to take kindly to Mike lying to him.

Mike spent the majority of the episode focused on the case and trying to keep this from both Harvey and Rachel. Rachel figures it out at the end of the episode and warns him not to burn his bridges. I am not sure I agree with Rachel, but I do think that he needs to tell Harvey the truth. This case is important to Mike, but his involvement has the potential to ruin the case and get him fired. Mike keeping secrets is no shock, he just hasn’t kept them from Harvey.

War of Hearts

Harvey’s newest lover finds herself in legal trouble and he steps into help. It was nice to see Harvey and Louis join forces where it involved very little animosity, but this relationship just needs to end. While Harvey and this therapist didn’t start dating until after the waiting period, it’s still disgusting. The patient/therapist relationship is much like the one that exists between parent and child. The idea of a waiting period enough to wash away the disgust just wasn’t enough. Harvey asks that he not let Donna know about his new relationship which tells me he is not as cool with it as he says he is.

Turns out the good doctor’s husband only sued her because he was upset that he got dumped. Louis managed to get the suit dropped, but not before he realized that things falling apart with Tara was his fault. I love how Louis is continually working on his mental health. It’s a super healthy representation. His progress is not immediate. It takes time to better yourself.

Meanwhile, Harvey and Donna have a heart to heart about their new working dynamic. Let’s be real, these two need to stop playing this game and admit they love each other. This back and forth is getting old. It’s been seven seasons. The writers need to stop teasing us when it comes to Darvey.
